The story of a magical place called Radenci

The place Radenci lies on the outskirts of the Pannonian Plain, in the green landscape and in the midst of the hills full of vineyards. Each Fall we are reminded of this from the rattling of the wind rattles in between the vineyards. For each guest, may it be a tourist or a business visitor, a walk or a bike ride along the wine road near the hilly surrounding, is a nice and authentic experience of the place. The magical story began back in the year 1833, when dr. Karl Henn discovered the natural healing mineral water Radenska and decided to start pumping the water in 1866.

When discovered, the spring of Radenska roared, hissed and murmured so loudly that legends started revolving around it. First of the legends says that the noise is coming from the diligent dwarfs, which are digging tunnels and paving the way for the healing water. Second swears that under the spring/well there is a big cauldron in which the witches are cooking dumplings and the third legend suggests that in the midst of all the rumbling thunder and hail are uniting.

Eventhough, to this day, we can not tell if the dwarfs, witches or some other magical beings were responsible for everything, one thing is certain: the nature in Radenci was very giving with the gifts that heal, spoil and strengthen the human body. Radenci are one of the few Slovene health resorts that pride itself in and offer four natural healing factors. Besides the famous Radenska mineral water there is also the healing thermo-mineral water, healing mud (peloid) and a pleasant climate with over 250 sunny days a year. Health resort Radenci lies a few kilometres away from Gornja Radgona as well as the Austrian state border and in the immediate proximity of the highway connections. This is the home of the famous natural mineral water Radenska, top-notch spas as well as the scene of the well-known marathon named Maraton treh src (the direct translation would be the Marathon of three hearts) which is attracting runners from Slovenia, our neighbouring countries and all around the world for over 30 years. The widespread activity of local cultural societies is known to both locals and guests. Various theatre and choir performances, literary evenings and art exhibitions enrich the already interesting everyday life throughout the whole year.
